A columbarium is a vertical structure for the above ground interment of cremation ashes. Columbariums are becoming an increasingly popular addition to many cemeteries. The Brewster Cemetery Association recently completed construction of the first columbarium in Brewster with 72 cremation niches, each of which can store the remains from one or two cremations. The columbarium units are made of beautifully colored granite, positioned well to fit in with the surrounding environment.

Based on the demand for our existing columbarium interment niches we will be expanding the number of columbarium units in the future. Many people feel they are a nicer, more visible location for cremation interment compared to in-ground interment, and the cost is typically several thousand dollars less for a columbarium interment as opposed to an in-ground interment when all costs are taken into consideration.
